Dr. Hana Shahin is currently an Assistant Professor in Psychology at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. She received her Doctorate degree in Community Psychology from Wichita State University in 2021.

Dr. Shahin uses participatory research methodology, a research-to-action approach that emphasizes direct engagement of local priorities and perspectives. Her co-constructive approach focuses on the topics of wellness, burnout and compassion fatigue and satisfaction, understanding sense of community, COVID-19, health and physical fitness, powerlifting, obesity, and civic education and engagement.

She has 12 years of work experience in the non-profit sector in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States, where she had the chance to implement and apply community psychology theory into practice. Some of the major projects she worked on are homelessness, juvenile justice, financial literacy, employment, health and awareness, strategic planning, empowerment evaluation, coalition, and board development, needs assessments, events planning and management, organizational development, cost and benefit analysis, program design and evaluation, and grant writing and reporting. She has led many of these projects and has also been part of the team.

She also provided consultancy services to organizations and assisted them with conducting literature reviews, creating logic models, and developing strategies for projects. Additionally, she provided experiential educational training for the past ten years and consulted on projects for youth in cross-cultural understanding, leadership, civic education, and engagement, and mentoring in the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

Dr. Shahin is Egyptian born and raised. She received her a Master’s of Arts in Community Psychology from the American University in Cairo, Egypt. (AUC).
